Apple stopped Update watchOS 3.1.1 after great problems with Apple Watch

watchOS 3.1.1 bricking Apple Watch, claim users; update stopped temporarily

Apple's recent watchOS update has reportedly made several Apple Watches useless. According to multiple reports online, Apple has temporarily halted the new watchOS 3.1.1 update after some users complained that the OS version bricked their devices. Most of the infected users are said to own the Watch Series 2

The watchOS 3.1.1 for now is not available to download from the Watch app on the iPhone. Most users who have not updated to the new version may see watchOS 3.1 to be the latest update.

News reports claim that several Apple Watch Series 2 devices started showing a red exclamation mark on the screen instructing users to visit www.apple.com/help/watch website. The website forces users to long press the side button and the Digital Crown to restart and restore the device

Users have further mentioned that restarting the affected Apple Watch doesn't solve the problem. However, some users are also reporting that the OS update process had no issues in their devices. Users with bricked Apple Watch devices have reportedly been told to visit the company's retail stores or contact Apple Support

The watchOS 3.1.1 supports new Unicode 9.0 emoji. It also lets users change skin tones while picking certain emoji characters. The OS version is, however, not a huge one. The last major update rolled out by Apple was the watchOS 3.0 in September

Apple has also rolled out its iOS 10.2 for iPhone, iPad and iOS models. The OS as a 'special feature' for the company's users in India. It brings in the India-specific distress call 'SOS' button feature to iPhones in the country

Although the official changelog does not mention the SOS button feature, users in India can see the option after the update under the Settings>General menu

Triggering the SOS will directly call the 112 number, as specified by the government. The number will also be saved in the handset's contact automatically as Distress Number

However, using the feature won't be of any use now as the 112 emergency number will be adopted by habibeche in January next year
